How it works
Handles and canonical profile URLs are accepted where the platform supports them.
The page returns the public follower or subscriber count and the supporting profile metrics.
Every successful lookup includes the time Sourcevine read the public page.
Recorded example
A real response from /v1/youtube/channel, kept so this page can
show something true without spending anyone’s credits. Run the tool
above for a live read of your own link.
Why Sourcevine
Check a public YouTube channel without connecting your own YouTube account.
YouTube itself rounds public subscriber counts above 1,000, so a channel showing 515M is not precise to the person. We pass through what the platform publishes rather than inventing precision.
The result includes when the public page was read, so the number is easier to reconcile later.
Use cases
Record a channel size with a timestamp, for a report that has to be defensible later.
Add a current public profile count to a lead or account record.
Separate public, private and unsupported links before a batch job.
Boundaries
Private accounts and restricted content are not accessed. Deleted resources return an availability status.
Bios, emails, phone numbers, addresses and messenger handles are outside this product boundary.
YouTube publishes no channel-level like count, so there is no such field. Video-level likes are available per video.
Sourcevine does not claim that profiles on different platforms belong to the same person.
Questions
Yes, and with a /channel/ link. Either form works.
YouTube itself rounds public subscriber counts above 1,000. We show what the platform publishes rather than pretending to more precision than exists.
Private or restricted content, bios and contact details are not returned. A platform may show a sign-in prompt for public content; the scope is public data, not whether the platform presents a login screen. If an account is private, the tool says so.
Yes, a free Sourcevine account; you never log in to the platform itself. Signing up gives you 100 credits once, no card, and they do not renew. A lookup spends one or two of them, and you can see every run in your dashboard. When they are gone, a prepaid pack tops the balance up and never expires.
API
Use the API when follower or subscriber counts need to land in a database, dashboard or spreadsheet.
