X (Twitter) APIs for public post data

Read public posts, profiles, timelines and replies on X with X’s own fields kept intact: views, quotes, bookmarks and retweets are separate fields, not one engagement number.

Choose the API by the job.

From first request to production.

  1. Pick the job

Choose the X endpoint by outcome: post stats, profile, timeline, search, replies or trending.

  2. Send one clear input

Use a public URL, keyword, cursor or small parameter set. Each API page shows valid examples before you write code.

  3. Check each response

Each response includes a fetch timestamp, its availability and the credits it billed, so you can match usage to your own records.

Where X APIs fit.

Post performance reporting

Refresh public views, likes, replies, retweets, quotes and bookmarks on the same post URLs across the life of a campaign.

Account qualification

Check public follower, following and post counts, and whether the account carries a verified badge, before it moves into manual review.

Keyword and timeline monitoring

Page through public posts matching a keyword, or recent posts from a watched account, using the cursor each response returns.

Reply triage

Pull a page of public replies to a post to see what a launch or an announcement drew, without opening the thread by hand.

X limits.

Protected accounts stay protected

A protected or suspended account returns an availability status. Sourcevine does not bypass platform access controls.

Replies are one level deep

The replies API returns public replies to a post, with a cursor. Unlike TikTok, Instagram and YouTube, X has no replies-to-a-reply route today, so a full conversation tree is not available.

Public counts, not X analytics

Responses carry the counts X shows publicly. They do not carry impression breakdowns, audience demographics, ad performance or anything from an account’s own analytics tab.
